The Pinkerton Law Firm is Now Pursuing Xarelto Claims

Two years ago, the original lawsuits were filed against the manufacturer and co-marketer of Xarelto, Janssen Pharmaceutical and Bayer Healthcare. Now, the pharmaceutical lawyers at The Pinkerton Law Firm are accepting claims for those that have been affected by the undisclosed side effects caused by Xarelto. Specifically, these pharmaceutical companies failed to warn the patients taking these drugs and the physicians prescribing them of the increased risks of fatal internal bleeding when using Xarelto. During the course of Xarelto lawsuits, it has been revealed that had these companies warned of the risks, then patients would have been prescribed a different blood thinner, such as warfarin.

Xarelto is a blood thinner, or anti-coagulant in medical terms. Anticoagulants are a class of drugs that work to prevent blood clotting. Therefore, Xarelto has been widely prescribed to prevent blood clots in patients suffering from such conditions as deep vein thrombosis, stroke, irregular heartbeat, pulmonary embolism, and to patients following a surgical procedure. Up until the release of Xarelto, warfarin had been the primary blood thinner prescribed by doctors. However, unlike warfarin, there is no traditional antidote to reverse the blood-thinning effects of Xarelto.

This is the most serious allegation as to the potential side effect and health risk caused by Xarelto because severe internal bleeding can result in death. Until there is an antidote to reverse the blood-thinning effects Xarelto, patients may be at risk for irreversible bleeding problems, including life-threatening internal and gastrointestinal hemorrhaging. Other potential injuries caused by Xarelto include hematoma, infection post-surgery, decreased hemoglobin, bleeding in the brain, peripheral edema, and difficulty breathing. Xarelto has been accused of failing to warn patients of all these serious complications.
